The Twestival (or Twitter-Festival) is global movement which mobilizes local communities in support of a local cause.
This year, Twestival is going to take place around the world on Thursday, 24th March 2011. In Hyderabad, the festival will be held at Sweet Nirvana, Madhapur and MedPlus is the Principal sponsor for the event . Since 2009, Twestival has seen over 200 cities participating in it and raising around $1.2 million for important causes like clean water and education.
For the Hyderabad edition of Twestival this year, the chosen beneficiary is a NGO called ‘Aashayein Foundation' which endeavors to provide education to the destitute children.
Aashayein Foundation which is adopted by Twestival Hyderabad got a 10,000 rupee grant from Give-India while the Hyderaba's logo won the runner's up spot adding another $250 to the donation. Congratulation to both of them for winning it and congratulations to all those who participated in the Facebook campaign and helped Hyderabad reach the 2nd place amongst 83 differnt cities of the world.
